Trug arrived this morning. It is lovely and I am reluctant to part with it.
I'm looking forward to ordering one for me!
Thankyou for sending the half bushel trug. I am delighted with it. It is
almost identical to the one I had given to me about 30 years ago and which
is still not quite worn out. I have been searching for about a year for a
replacement.
Thanks for the trug. It was a birthday present for a gardening husband.
He spent about an hour fondling it; it sat in our lounge for a day so he
could admire it all the more.
I would just like to thank you very much for sending out the trug so quickly so that we could get it packed up in time for a birthday gift - really appreciated!
Trugs in canada. My husband is from Herstmonceux and has been living here for about ten years.
when we come back to visit his family i saw the trugs and fell in love with them.
i think they are great and would sell like hot cakes here.
thanks Allyson & Kevin
I have a Sussex Trug here in Canada.
Love it and its origins as my roots are
in Sussex which isn't surprising as my
maiden name was DADSWELL. Love
to know more about Ben'.
Hi Sarah

Many thanks to you and to Tim for his interesting knowledge of willow for cricket bats. We are very pleased with our trugs and we wish you well for the future.Phil,Alison,Joshua and Matthew.

Hi,
I have just read your feature in Country Living.....Congratulations! It's lovely to hear about the work that goes into the crafts that are on our doorstep.
I sadly lost my Gran a couple of years ago. She had a B&B in Ninfield and would encourage visitors to purchase a trug while they stayed in Sussex.
It made me smile when a car full of relatives from Yorkshire pulled over at The Truggery after her funeral. They later told me they wanted to take home something they could keep as a lasting memory of my Gran.
I still don't have a trug myself.... however, I WILL pop in and treat myself soon!! I would also be very interested if you run any coureses?
Hello Sarah
I have bought quite a few of your trugs both by visiting your shop - which is lovely and in a wonderful part of our countryside - and by phone. I have had special trugs made for friends and family with their names on them, including two for our twin nieces Aimee and Lucy, who love them to bits and now have their very own patches of garden to tend. When we visited you we also bought a full bushel - the wood of which came from a local star's garden - that we love so much, it sits in our conservatory in between uses so that we can admire it. I was reading Country Living for February and was very sorry to hear that you are having trouble with funding and in need of alterations (due to health and safety) to your workshop so that you can take on a much needed apprentice. This makes me sad as I love the history of the trug and enjoy using mine so much. The thought that you might not be there for future generations to enjoy or to be able to pass your skills on is something that shouldn't happen. I feel very strongly that our rural skills should be preserved. They are a part of our heritage, a part of us all. I hope you do have the funding approved, so that you can move forward with your plans and keep this wonderful skill alive for all to enjoy. Could you get celebrities such as the Gardeners world team, Chris Beardshaw, Alan Titchmarch, Jamie Oliver (as he now gardens) behind you (perhaps send them a gift with your story) who value our heritage and could draw attention to your plight. With our very best wishes for the future of your business and the trug.
Hello - just read the article in Country Living which my mum told me about (so I bought a copy specially - don't let anyone say a trug is expensive when you see the price of these glossy magazines these days!) - didn't know my mum was going to be quoted in it, very nice! Do hope it helps with sales. Got our trugs here in Nottingham now - they are superb. Best wishes.
Thank you for the fantastic No 7 trug with straps. It's wonderful, I will enjoy using it so much - I can't wait to get started! We love your trugs and as our collection grows, we never lose the joy of owning, looking at and using them. They are a usable work of art. We would be interested in seeing your DVD if at all possible, to see our trugs being put together would be great. Thank you again. With our very best wishes for the future.
would you ship to U.S.?S: Only in ones or twos, not large consignments. No refunds/exchanges. Be aware postage to USA is very expensive
I was delighted to read in Country Living about how you are keeping the traditional trug making going. My Mother's family (Cornford) hail from the Hailsham area, although many of us are living all over the place now. As a small child in the 1950s I would visit and was given a very little red and white painted trug, about 10 inches long, and was told by my Grandfather that this was a special and traditional Sussex trug - something to keep and treasure but above all to use. I still have and use it to this day and my grand-daughter now likes to carry it about while "helping" in the garden. Thank you so much for keeping this tradition going. I intend to ask for a new and bigger trug for use in the garden for my forthcoming birthday and will be back to buy presents for my family - after all it's part of their heritage too! Best wishes Michele
Hello! I'm in the U.S. I bought your No. 4 trug on e-Bay. I don't know how old it is, but the bottom is stamped "Telephone 2214 [I think], R. Reed & Son, The Truggery, Coopers Croft, Herstmonceaux Sussex, Ye Old Sussex Trug." My question is, the handle is cracked part way through on one curve. Is there a way to stabilize the problem? I love the light, sturdy construction and simple, elegant design. Thanks for your help. Now I know where to get other sizes.
Dear Sarah
Thank you so much for the speedy delivery of the wonderful No. 6 trug. It is a beautifully made quality item and I can't wait to use it. I particularly appreciate the lovely smoothness of the handle.
Best wishes, Jacqueline
What a delight to deal with Sarah. who really cares about her trugs and her customers. In the first instance she was so helpful and then when I realised I had made a mistake in ordering the wrong size for a friend's birthday, though no fault of her own, she dealt with my problem with understanding and sorted my problem out with no worry or hassle whatsever. My friend will love her trug! Thank you!
Truggery,
Just a quick note to alert you that your (very nicely designed) web site has some broken links. Not all photos appear (eg. willow baskets). Also, some comments shown on this page are junk mail - drug advertisements!
Just reading my latest UK Country Living whilst having a cup of tea in regional Victoria where we live on a few hectares near the beautiful Gippsland Lakes. Have you posted any trugs to Australia? If not my husband will be over in May/June visiting family and I'll send him to the shop to pick up a few trugs to bring home so we can use in the vegie garden, the orchard and the flower garden. The UK is truly blessed to have traditional sustainable businesses like The Truggery so long may it continue!
Very nice site!

I have been looking for a trug like yours in the United States, but cannot find any. Do you ship to any stores in the US?
Thanks so much!
